Spelunking in Portland

Here are some words that describe Portland Oregon: damp, bustling, wild, natural and like totally groovy man. I visited Portland last week with my sister being my ad interim host. It was a busy busy week. To give you the full spectrum, we started out Saturday munching street-cart seafood down by the port and by Thanksgiving Thursday we were spelunking the Ape Caves in Southern Washington. Speaking of the caves, those things are spooky spooky. That's double spooky for those keeping track at home. Never in my life have I been somewhere that dark or that quiet. It actually took a combination of three flashlights plus the flash on my phone to even get this picture:

When I wasn't bumming around by the port or deep cave exploring I was chiseling away at my personal statement. I decided to stash my first draft and work from a fresh slate. It's not that I didn't like my first version, I just want to experiment a bit before really committing to a draft. So far I've got two separate opening paragraphs, one talking about my chipped #8 and the other involving fixing up my scooter. I'm planning on bringing those into my school's writing center sometime this week, but that might be tough seeing as its pre-finals week. Anyways, instead of rambling on in the blog I should probably be gearing up for finals. Until next time.
