It's syllabus week here and I ended up with a huge open block between my genetics and stats class. I figured I might as well spend it blogging.
My last post talked about how I wanted to really crunch down and study for the DAT. I wasn't able to do that. Well, that's a lie - I chose not to do that. What I did choose to do was to finally start on my personal statement. Of course, the essay is far from finished; I'm planning on going to our school's writing center next week to try and polish it up a bit. I'm just glad that I have a first draft (a foundation if you will) upon which I can build my house. That metaphor didn't exactly hit, but you get the picture.
Besides dentistry, I'm also in the process of reorganizing the school's club hockey team. So far this has involved a lot of tabling, poster hanging and meetings with the athletic director. Can't say it hasn't payed off though - I've been able to recruit about 25 players, which is up from the whopping eight we had last year. We have a first meeting next week. If at least 15 people show up to that then Brett (the athletic director) will give me free reign to schedule tryouts. It'll be nice to finally focus on something besides recruiting because that's pretty much all I've gotten to do since becoming president. I bet Obama doesn't have to deal with that.
Short blog, but I'll try to start posting more often. Working at the clinic will probably slow down as hockey ramps up, but I guess thats just the nature of the beast.
